When Everything Was Changing
“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
Vagabond Mafia returns with a whole project of carefully placed and crafted tracks. With a solid 9 tracks it is a full length album that isn’t overly ambitious or excruciatingly long. The quality of each track and its flow is paramount. The artists took time to construct a project that is playable from start to finish. With 9 tracks it gives you a full experience with wanting more music but not leaving you feel jaded and without. The entire project is 39 minutes long but creates a strong narrative of relatable experiences that take the fan/listener on a journey through the artist’s experiences and leaves you understanding just why they titled it “When Everything Was Changing”.
The group is known as cleverly as “Your Mom’s Favorite Interracial Rap Group”. The artists that comprise the group are varied but have such a dynamic that makes their music genuinely hip hop but also something more, almost punky, with a rule breaking genre bending aspect to them, maybe why mom’s rock with it heavy. Their recently promoted singles are Fresh Kicks and B.U.F.U. and are both heavy in their own right. Quality music takes work and these artists spent the better part of a year to make sure their music was what they wanted to hear and what their fans would resonate with.
You can hear that the artists paid careful attention to their craft and with their planned listening party and release shows their energy is brimming. The work that they are doing is on par to create a new path for other artists to follow in terms of promotion and audience reception.
