So many people passively listen to music. They listen when they drive, they listen when they go for walks/runs, they listen while they cook, they listen when they are doing countless other tasks. Many people do not set time aside to listen in the way that they did in years past. There was a time when people weren’t so distracted by their phones, laptops, tablets, computers, devices and they would pull a record out of a sleeve, pop in a cassette or throw on a CD and listen to a whole record because not only was that the way people listened to music but also because the attention spans were longer. Passive listening is not a problem but uncaring entitled listening is. This idea that everything musically is at our fingertips and only seconds away on some listening platform whether or not the artist, producer, writer or countless other parties who contribute to the construction of this art is paid properly is a tough pill to swallow.

It is our goal to highlight the work of artists who create the art that enriches our life. This art drives us towards hope, soothes our pain when heartbreak occurs, it empowers us with confidence, it gives us a theme for our parties, it gives us joy and uplifts us. For this we must be incredibly grateful for the work put out for us to listen to and the hope would be that we give back to those who make this art for us.
