Ethereal Dreams
“The best part of beauty is that which no picture can express “
Many people revere art for its beauty and its ability to impart some emotive response. However, all art is subjective where some may place value, others may not. It is truly that art and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This translates well to music as well. Music is truly an event that draws from people’s personal experiences and through these experiences they either relate to the sounds and lyrics from the music that they hear or they do not. This experience can and will have something to do with the quality of the sound but will largely be related to the person’s individual life experiences and emotions that become associated with the sounds/lyrics that they hear.
This experience of listening to music and determining its value is the most difficult aspect of the music business as artists put their souls on wax for others to critique and even more difficult than the critique is the chance that those who may understand, relate and enjoy the music may not have the chance to hear the music. Because of this we aim to present as much of this art that we can so that the world can hear the art that is being made for the world at large. This particular artist Riv Dog is a figure in the music scene in New Mexico that should always be mentioned when considering artists that have exceptional lyrical ability. His latest project Ethereal Dreams is one that is no exception to his usual style of bar heavy lyrical content and music to match. This 8 song album is one that features fellow artist DeeKayyEss$.
The project has New Mexico culture embedded in its contents and not only is it a representation of the State and the sound you can expect from quality artists in the state but also a perfect representation of Riv Dog’s ability to tell a story, and present a narrative of how he is a dominant figure in hip hop in the music scene. There are various different production elements at play on the songs in this album. The first song has piano elements that blend well with the lyrical content, Drift has some elements that sound similar to Electronic music and Riv and DeeKayEss$ move through these sounds with ease proving their range and ability to flex their lyrical ability to any sound.
