Solar Wars Volume 1
“Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear”
Art is a lawless land, where any rule can be broken, any convention challenged. Those who are innovate are those who stand out and make waves. This is incredibly important today as commercial art can have a generic style and feeling. So artists who are challenging the norm and bucking the system are those who will be the first to be recognized. This particular artist displays the type of conviction and determination that only a few taste. This drive is what makes a success and with it anything is possible.
The latest project by Azoe and MK Menace is titled Solar Wars Volume 1. This project challenges the southwest music scene. It challenges the content that has to be discussed, it challenges the aesthetic, it challenges the norm and it creates its very own lane. The listening party for this project highlighted the sound, the vibe behind the music and the production. Production can often be an overlooked aspect of music. Especially considering the sonic landscape. Commercial and mainstream music tends to have very little experimentation in sound and tends to not deviate from the tried and true chord progressions and sound design that has made previous artists successful. This however, is a project that uses a different variety of sound design. It is otherworldly, digital, and expansionist. Azoe and MK Menace are a wild duo that work seamlessly. Their lyrical approach and flow create this environment where the music is amplified and production blends and enhances the vibe of the track. Even the cover art is different, its contemporary without sacrificing their personality and vibe. This is a good reminder why Azoe was the winner of the Video of the Year for the 2022 New Mexico Hip Hop Awards. This year is cooking up and you can count on Azoe making waves again with this project.
