The hip hop community was founded on competition. The ability to demonstrate your skill in an arena in front of your peers is at the core of hip hop. As with every region, state and city people will all line up to claim their rightful spot on the throne. Without power though who can be King?
The power of claiming this title is a prize in and of itself. The King of The Mic 5 competition takes place this July. The event was last in Albuquerque, New Mexico at Red Gorilla Studios. This time around it will be taking place in North Colorado. The competition is a purely freestyle competition, and each previous event each winner is presented a belt to claim as King of The Mic. There is a cash prize as well if the title is not enough to pique your interest. This last events winner was Thirdleg who is an artist who is working on music as we speak and also has had previous battles on a different format Universal Battle Realm. This artist is not only talented in the freestyle environment but also written, studio and stage. Make sure you stay tapped in with the NMWA organization so you can stay up on the event and how you can participate to win the title and prize or how your business/brand can either vend at the event or help sponsor it!
